HOW TO DO A MAYO TREATMENT

INGREDIENTS:
1.  MAYONNAISE

I have added an egg to my treatment. But it will not go for all hair types. I would greatly recommend castor oil or olive oil for dry and brittle hair. As far as I heard honey, mayo and vinegar makes a great combo (CAUTION: I have never tried it)

  •      Start with a well cleansed and damped hair which is free of products. Focus on the dry areas especially on the roots. Don’t apply it on the scalp.

  •      Apply it all the way to the ends until you completely feel like a sandwich

  •      Put your shower cap or your hair clutch on

  •      Let your mayo set for 30 minutes straight

  •      Rinse it off and again cleanse your hair with a sulphate and paraben free shampoo

§  WHAT MADE ME GO FOR A MAYO TREATMENT

Little do I know about the hype of mayo treatment had , back in 2018 but never dared to try it.

On an extremely productive day, while scrolling through the YouTube. I came across a roasting video about 'the 90 Day fiancé especially Rose and Ed's episode aka THE NO NECK ED. When he revealed the secret to a shiny hair. I felt mother nature is calling me to get the damn job done. Yep, at first, I was quite not ready to try out the idea of using mayo to hair then at the corner my insane mind just said, “DO IT"

§  MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

In case of using an egg, add the beaten egg to the mayo slowly. Add it and mix it. Do it step by step. So that it is not hard to mix the mixture then.
I prep my hair before the treatment and applied the mayo mix. It is not really gooey as I thought. Due to the hype, I expected a soft hair as it is in the hair commercials just for my first try. I know I am expecting a lot.

Before sharing my experience, I would like to give you a quick idea about my hair. I have a thick, dry and a rough hair

AFTER RINSE:
I still smelled like a sandwich. So, I had to rinse my hair thrice.
SOFTNESS: Yep, it is definitely soft compared that to my brittle hair
SHINE: Though it is soft. It doesn't give shine to my hair. Maybe olive oil would help if added.
TEXTURE: It gave a smooth texture
FRIZZ: A well tamed frizzy hair than usual

AFTER A DAY:
TEXTURE: Way too brittle
SOFTNESS: Back to normal same rough hair waved hello again. But this time it is little bit softer than usual
SHINE: Not too dull but not too shiny
FRIZZ: frizz free hair is never a promise in this treatment.

  • IS IT WORTH THE HYPE

Definitely. With someone with rough hair like mine. It is surely a good try. But it is not good for all hair types. Each hair types differs.

Mere mayo will not give magical shine to your hair. For someone with curly hair it will add little glimpse of shine and smooth texture as it already lacks sebum in the middle and ends of hair cuticle you are expecting keratin or protein treatments result in this treatment. Then this is not for you.

Is it successful in fulfilling its promise?
Then it is a big fat YES. It gave a mild soft texture to my hair. I could never take my hands off my hair throughout the day.

  •   LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

I would rather tell TRY IT as this one is a not a bad treatment and it fulfilled its claims but they are temporary. This results changes from person to person unless you use the correct mayo without any artificial seasonings or chemicals in it.
