THE UNWRITTEN LOVE LETTERS : CHAPTER 3- AM I IN LOVE ?
CHAPTER 3: AM I IN LOVE?
Mavis sensed why I was hesitating. "Steph, don't tell you're not coming because Noah will be there. It was not your fault, so don't stop doing what you want just because you can't face someone ". She mentioned this as she left the place. I was utterly confused.
Alex came looking for me. Finally, he found me in our secret spot. He asked what happened to me. “I never said anything to you. How do you know something happened?”, “Isn't it apparent that you came to our secret spot by yourself? If something had happened, you would have discussed it with me in the first place. You haven't said anything, so it's something even you aren't sure of. I'm not sure why you're perplexed. If you must select one of the four pathways, choose the one that brings you happiness, not the one that you are forced to choose.” Left the place saying these things.
They began their journey the next morning. To their amazement, I was the first person on the bus. "Is it just me, or did our department's so-called Miss. Attitude board the bus before us?" Joe wondered. Alex and Mavis were overjoyed to have me join them. "Joe, you know, I never wanted to disappoint you guys, and it's so difficult to manage Mavis and Alex on your own. Joe! Why not I come to assist you?" I handled the situation with my witty phrases.
"Steph, did you both get your sweaters from the same store?" Joe asked me with a sarcastic look on his face. I asked what he was referring to. When Joe urged me to peek in the bus’s corner, I looked around and noticed Noah seated there in a beige turtleneck sweater and white track pants. He was wearing black circular spectacles. I was dressed in the same beige turtleneck sweater and olive-green slacks. I simply gave an annoyed look.
Mavis urged me to sit in the last row because all the seats had already been reserved by our classmates. Mavis was well aware of what she was doing. I was forced to sit close to Noah. I didn't want to engage in a conversation with him. Kate, our department's Queen of Gossip, exclaimed gleefully, "Let's get started, DJ drop the beat". They played some upbeat music. They all began to dance. I was nervous about dancing in front of everyone. I was just grooving to the music.
Noah invited me to join him in the dance. I was hesitant to express anything since I didn't want to make it evident that he had irritated me. I went with him. My thoughts kept me wondering why this guy was behaving as if nothing had happened between us. After a few dances, I went back to my seat to relax. I eventually fell asleep in my seat.
I felt a hand gently touching my hair. It felt like a dream, but it was all true. I slowly opened my eyes. It was Mr. Macadams. When I saw him near me, my heart began to race. I realised there was only a very slight distance separating us. We both felt uncomfortable as we locked eyes with one other. "What are you doing, Noah?" I inquired with a grumpy tone. Nothing, Steph, your hair was falling on your face. I didn’t want that to disrupt your nap. I was perplexed as to why this guy was acting so oddly all of a sudden.
Noah apologized right away. "What makes him feel sorry for me?" I asked. He apologized for his cold attitude in the lab. I asked why he was apologizing now. Noah went on to say that he had wanted to apologize for so long but was worried about how I would respond if he did. All of my rage vanished the moment he apologized.
I wondered as to why he was reaching me through Mavis. "I don't want to stop talking to you, and I don't have the confidence to face you after what happened," he responded. I told Noah, "It's alright to be on ill terms at times but please don't do it again." "I can't face you the next time like this". Noah nodded, acknowledging what I had stated.
Everything was resolved in a matter of minutes. “Steph, we appear to be dressed as a couple”. “It might be fun if we partnered up for dancing sometime”, Noah said with a smile in his eyes. "Let's see in the future, Mr. Macadam," I responded, smiling. We talked about everything to make up for the days we didn't talk.
We finally arrived at the Oyola Forest for camping. We arrived at the location around midnight. Alex set up the pop-up tents for me. Mavis, I bet whoever marries my closest friend, Alex will enjoy the life of a princess. "Why not a queen?", Alex wondered. I stated that I could not abandon my throne. Maybe someday I'll relinquish my throne, but for the time being, I'll keep it. Alex and I burst out laughing. We decided to make the most of the night because we couldn't get it back.
Kate decided to play Truth or Dare in a unique way. Everyone must respond to the question asked by the person who was pointed at the bottle, if it is true. If it's a dare, the person whose name is drawn from the slot must complete it. Kate spun the bottle, and the bottle pointed at me.
To spice things up, I asked if anyone had fallen in love with someone sitting here. Only some have raised their hand. I was eager to learn Noah's response. I looked around to see who had raised their hands. A few of my classmates raised their hands. Joe and Mavis raised their hands, seeing each other's eyes while expressing their love. Alex and Noah both raised their hands, which surprised me. I'm much more impatient to find out who Alex and Noah have fallen in love with.
Kate spun the bottle once again. It was pointing at Joe. He asked us to describe love. I responded as a feeling that alters who we are and causes us to fall in love with the person no matter how much they hurt us. Alex’s response made me wonder with whom he had fallen in love. He said, "The emotion that causes you to love the person wholeheartedly and patiently wait for that person no matter how long it takes." "The pain you feel if you don't talk to the person," Noah responded. After the night, I wondered, "Am I in love?"
The girl wondered if all three had fallen in love, and if so, with whom.
